Introducing the Family at Oliver J. Knapman Funeral Service.
As well as the Funeral Directors Oliver and Tom, The Knapman Family are very much involved in the day-to-day running of the business. Oliver’s Father Andrew, and his Mother Paula understand the traditional values and high standards that are expected by the local community.
Andrew grew up in Bishopsteignton and later moved to Teignmouth after meeting his wife Paula. Together, they ran Glendaragh Nursing Home in Teignmouth for many years.
Paula, a qualified Registered General Nurse (R.G.N.), ensured high standards and cared for the patients as if they were family. As a result, she more than understands and appreciates the importance of care, dignity and respect that is shown to families and their loved ones at such difficult times.
Andrew has had much experience in the funeral business, previously working with Tom at T. Clark Funeral Services as a Driver and Bearer. Andrew, therefore, is able to carry out the high standards that are set out by Oliver and Tom.
Oliver’s Brother Harry has a full-time job but gives up his spare time to assist the running of the business.
Tom, Oliver’s Godfather, has a lifetime of experience within the funeral profession since 1969, having spent many years living and working in Teignmouth, serving the local community, firstly at J. Brook-Bullen & Son and then at his premises in Teign Street, before taking early retirement and selling to Co-operative Funeral Care eighteen years ago. Tom’s partner Tim, also works with Oliver as a Bearer on funeral ceremonies.
Oliver is well known in Teignmouth and his family have resided in the town for some 5 generations. He has spent his whole life within the town, educated at Trinity School, he is also an active member of Teignmouth Beach Surf Lifesaving Club.
Oliver is experienced within the funeral profession, having worked in the industry locally. Oliver with Tom, endeavour to provide you and your family with the care, reassurance and guidance that is needed at what is a very difficult time and will strive to deliver continuity alongside a personal service that is so often hard to find and lost within the larger companies.
Both Oliver and Tom feel Funeral Directing means what it says, the funeral director should be there for the bereaved family every step of the way, from the initial call through to the funeral service and thereafter. Oliver and his family offer the support, care and continuity that all families need at this distressing and difficult time.
As the only Independent Funeral Service in the Teignmouth and Dawlish area, Family is very much at the forefront of how the business operates and Oliver will make sure that his family look after your family when we are needed most.
